Warner Robins Weekend

What a busy and fun weekend we had! It has been a while since we've been to WR to visit Joe's family, so the boys were super excited to go to Mimi's house!! They knew after they woke from their nap on Friday we were going to leave....so they barely slept an hour, jumped out of bed and said "okay, we are ready to go to Mimi's house!" Our plan was to go and see all of my nephews ball games but it didn't quite work out that way. It took us over 3 hours to get there because of traffic so we only got to see the last 20 min. of the ball game Friday night. Then it rained all day Saturday so all the games were cancelled that day. So we didn't get to spend the weekend at the ball park like we had hoped, but we found plenty of other things to keep us busy!!

After breakfast on Saturday, Mimi decided it would be fun to make homemade cinnamon rolls...yummy!!! She told the boys they could help and she really meant it. They helped with everything and had flour from head to toe!

God bless grandparents for having so much patience!! As much as I think I would love to have them help me do a cooking project like this at home....I just don't know if I would have the patience! It was a mess but the boys (and Mimi) did such a great job!!

The finished project! They were so yummy...between these and the chocolate cake...I may have gained a few pounds over the weekend!

After a 3 hour nap, we headed over to Lil' Mimi and Poppa's house to go fishing. They have a big pond in their back yard so it was a perfect place to take the boys. Of course it rained on us the whole time we fished, but we didn't let it spoil our fun...I just had to keep wiping the camera lens off!!

The boys were so excited and had so much fun. They have been wanting to go fishing for a while so I am glad we finally got to do that. This was really only my second time ever going fishing and I loved it to!!

All the boys lined up fishing...the only sweet girl to break up all this testosterone was inside so her hair didn't get wet!! ;)

Lane giving a demonstration about the first fish that was caught! He was teaching the boys how to hold the fish by its mouth.

The boys actually caught several fish! Can you believe Cade even touched the fish!!

Luke and I caught a fish...I don't know who was prouder!

Getting ready to throw the fish back in the water...all of the fish were thrown back in the water when we were done with them.

Cade thought it was so funny when the fish would flop around and splash water on him!

Posing with the catfish that Luke caught!

Finally we all came inside to relax and dry off.

There is that sweet baby girl!! She is so fun now. She is laughing and crawling! She has the sweetest smile along with a little attitude when you take something away from her that she is playing with!! :)

Finally the night is ending...we were all exhausted!

The last project of the weekend was making bird feeders with Mimi. They have a tree in their back woods that has huge pine cones. We collected a few of them and made bird feeders with peanut butter and bird seed.

We had a hard time keeping Luke from eating all of the peanut butter instead of putting it on his pine cone!

The finished project!!

Hanging in the woods for the birds to enjoy!

Besides the rain and missing grandaddy (he was away on a fishing trip the whole weekend), we had a great weekend!! As soon as we got in the car to come home the boys went right to sleep. They slept until we were about 5 minutes from home at which point Luke woke up....looked around, and said "Mom, are we going to Mimi's house?" They will be begging to go back again very soon!!

Brave Face

So sometimes as a parent you have to put on a brave face and pretend you are not scared of things.....

Cade is my "nervous nelly" .... kind of like his mother. As he is getting older he is starting to develop some very normal fears..... the dark, thunder and now bees/bugs. With the beautiful warm weather we have been having this week, all of the bees have come out full force. The other day we were out playing and Cade all of a sudden screams at the top of his lungs and comes running to me. Of course I am freaking out and asking him what is wrong and through his crying he tells me a bee was trying to get him. Of course I just explained that they will not bother you if you don't bother them, etc... So for the last few days we have really been working on getting through this fear because they play outside 24/7 when it is nice. He was really getting past it .... until this afternoon. I lay the boys down for their nap and leave the room. After about 10 minutes of silence, I hear a loud scream. Before I can even get to their room the scream turns into a blood curdling, someone dying scream. My heart is pounding and as I rush into the room I see the look on Cade's face. Through his screaming he is pointing to something on the wall.....it was a wasp!! Are you kidding me!!! How in the world did a wasp get in our house, back to his room, and right next to his bed! Of all the places and all the people, it would happen to him. He is frozen, screaming in shock as the wasp lands on his bed right next to his head. For a split second I just want to run from the room because I am not a fan of bugs and especially not ones that sting. Then....I had to put on the brave parent face!! I grabbed Cade out of the bed and quickly assured him that the wasp was not going to get him and he was okay. Poor thing was literally shaking he was so scared! I felt so bad for him! So....I have the brave face on for Cade....but I'm still not going near that thing to kill it. I run to Joe (who is laying in the bed recovering from gallbladder surgery) and tell him what is going on. Being the wonderful husband he is, he gets out of bed, goes and checks out the scene and then asks "well, what do you want me to do about it?" Ummmm, hello, kill it please!!!!! Long story short....daddy kills the wasp, Cade flushes it down the toilet to make sure it is gone, I hold Cade's hand for 20 minutes while he falls asleep and listen to Luke replay the whole scene aloud about 5 times......

This poor child will be scared to death now of his bed....instead of checking for monsters under the bed, we are going to be checking the bed for wasps for the rest of the summer! Add that to the list of fears for Cade. Thank goodness he has his brave brother who is constantly assuring him that he is there and he will take care of him!
